Searching for breastfeeding assistance in Detroit?
Look no further! BMBFA’s Community-Based Breastfeeding Peer Counselor (BFPC) Program is a free and comprehensive home-visiting service designed to empower expectant and breastfeeding mothers throughout their prenatal and nursing journeys.

Meet the Breastfeeding Peer Counselors

Our trained Breastfeeding Peer Counselors are mothers from your community who provide compassionate, culturally relevant, and personalized support. They assist with latching, weaning, milk storage, returning to work or school, and navigating breastfeeding in your daily life. Peer Counselors also serve as trusted community liaisons, helping to bridge social barriers and connect families to essential resources.

With BMBFA’s support, you’ll receive:

  • One-on-one home or virtual visits with a Peer Counselor

  • Guidance on breastfeeding techniques, nutrition, and infant care

  • Assistance overcoming challenges and social stigmas

  • Continuous emotional encouragement and empowerment

Your counselor becomes your personal navigator, helping you feel confident, informed, and supported every step of the way.
