Jayne Jackson
Jayne Jackson is a highly experienced birth doula and doula trainer, bringing two decades of expertise to her role. She has dedicated herself to training over 200 Black birth workers through the Black Mothers' Breastfeeding Association (BMBFA), across multiple cohorts. Her work spans beyond traditional birth support as she also assists mothers through perinatal loss, offering crucial support during times of grief and pregnancy after loss. Jayne is a pivotal figure in the Motor City Doula Association (MCDA), where she serves as the board's secretary and leads two important programs. Her commitment to bridging gaps in perinatal care for families is evident through her comprehensive approach as a full-spectrum doula. Beyond her professional endeavors, Jayne is a proud mother of two and enjoys biking, crafting plant-based medicines, and indulging in car concerts. Her multifaceted role and extensive contributions to doula training, community support, and personal interests underscore her dedication and impact in the field of maternal and perinatal health.
Cynthia Jackson
Cynthia Jackson, LM, CPM, is the Founder and Midwife at Sacred Rose Midwifery. She provides homebirth midwifery care for Metro Detroit families, and more specifically, her practice serves over 95% melanated families. As a midwife, she has experience in over 500 homebirths. She is also a Community-based Doula Trainer and Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Trainer at Black Mothers Breastfeeding Association in Detroit for over 10 years. She is also a proud graduate of The Birth & Breastfeeding Leadership Institute, cohort 5.
She has a deep love for her community and is passionate about educating families on everything related to birth. She believes that the more knowledge you have allows you to feel more empowered. Black families have fallen through the cracks of our broken health care system and she is committed to being apart of the solution, education is key!
In her spare time, she enjoys peace and quiet, listening to music, reading, and meditating. When she is off call, she enjoys vacationing with her family and friends. Her favorite place to vacation is on a cruise or anywhere by the beach!
Aisha Young
Aisha Young serves the Detroit community through The Natural Momma Me Initiative by addressing the critical needs of low-income families, particularly around diaper access and infant safe sleep education. Her work focuses on reducing health disparities and promoting early childhood well-being by distributing essential resources and providing culturally responsive education to parents and caregivers. These efforts not only meet basic needs but also build trust and engagement within underserved communities, creating pathways for long-term family stability.
